Biomimicry Furniture Design
Gastropod | Biomimicry | Ergonomics
The Design for this Furniture is based on the Gastropod or better known as the snail shell. MCPp was tasked with creating a Biomimicry furniture design that has the same overall feel and DNA of the Gastropod. Using the sandy laminate finish soft pink tones we were able to replicate the look of the shell. The use of the shell was also replicated designing cubby's and shelved that would store belongings similar to the snail finding home within the shell. As the overall dimensions were small ergonomics were considered and the unit is meant to hang at the correct height on the wall.
Reception Desk Design
Ergonomics | CATO
MCPp Interior Designs consulted with the Centre for Arts and Technology and designed a reception desk that would work with the overall spirit and nature of the school. With the need to represent several different programs the desk had be unique in appearance but still fulfill the needs of the receptionist. This two tier desk works with standard heights and lowered heights to work with wheel chair accessibility. As the school is not exclusive it was essential to look at ergonomics as a feature. The desk itself is movable for stand or sit functions, there is ample storage, and a privacy wall behind. With the school colors incorporated and a welcoming tranquil feel it represent the Centre for Arts and Technology in the best way.
Formica Furniture Design
"Design For The New Generation"
MCPp Interior Design was tasked with creating a furniture design that uses Formica Laminates only. The furniture was designed to think how the new generation would function within this complex era of COVID19. The design considered how the working class would create a productive atmosphere from home. we looked at cost effective and efficient way to have all the components of an office in one unit. The unit has full height storage, coat hooks, shoe storage, cubbies, open shelving, paper and computer storage, a power source and an ergonomic chair with a foot rest and movable work surface. The unit explored how the working class functions and the essential components needed.
